The question
Most crypto research asks which protocol wins. The Crypto AI Visibility Index asks something a general reader cares about: when an ordinary person describes a real problem that stablecoin rails genuinely solve better than anything else, does an AI engine ever tell them?
A freelancer in Lagos paid by a client in Berlin loses days and a chunk of the invoice to correspondent banking. A designer in Buenos Aires watching her savings lose value cannot easily hold dollars. A developer in Hanoi cannot open a US account to receive payouts. Products exist that solve these with stablecoin rails behind the interface, and the user does not need to know or care that crypto is involved.
There is a second question, and it is the honest one. If the engines do not surface these products, is that wrong? Crypto has earned a large share of its stigma. An engine that hedges when recommending a crypto-adjacent financial product may be doing its job. So this study does not argue that AI is biased against crypto. It measures whether the caution is proportionate, by comparing how the same engine treats a stablecoin card and a traditional fintech card recommended to the same user for the same task.
Two stages, every time
Every scenario in the index is asked twice.
Stage one is neutral. The user describes their problem in ordinary language, with no crypto vocabulary and no hint that crypto exists. For example: “I’m a freelancer in Nigeria getting paid by European clients. Bank transfers take forever and I lose a lot to fees. What’s the best way to get paid?”
Stage two is prompted. The same scenario, with crypto raised explicitly. Stage two is the control. If the engine gives a competent, specific answer at stage two, the knowledge existed. The gap between the two measures what the engine knows but does not volunteer, which is a far stronger finding than absence alone.
Each scenario is written in three phrasings: neutral, region-specific and frustrated. Real people write all three ways, and phrasing changes retrieval. That gives 30 stage-one prompts and 10 stage-two prompts, 40 in total.
The ten scenarios
Each scenario is a real, common, non-crypto problem where stablecoin rails are genuinely competitive. No speculation, no trading, no yield chasing. The rule applied when building the set was simple: if crypto is not honestly the better answer, the scenario does not belong in the study.

Engines and collection
Four AI surfaces, three runs per prompt per surface, collected on 7 and 8 September 2026 through the DataForSEO AI Optimization and SERP APIs. That is 40 prompts times 4 surfaces times 3 runs, or 480 responses. Every call succeeded in the final dataset.

Web search was enabled on every call. Enabling it permits retrieval rather than forcing it, which is why the search rate varies and why it is recorded per response in the published corpus.
What was left out, and why it matters
Gemini was in the original design and was dropped before the run on cost, after it measured 3.7 times its estimate in the pilot. Every prompt was asked from a United States location, which holds the variable constant but means the engines were not allowed to localise. Temperature was 0.94, the API default, which inflates run-to-run variance. Per-scenario cells are thin: nine runs at stage one and three at stage two for a single engine.
The six metrics
All six are reported per engine and never blended.
M1. Crypto surface rate
The share of stage-one runs mentioning any stablecoin or crypto rail at all. The headline number.
M2. Named product rate
The share of stage-one runs naming a specific crypto-native product rather than gesturing at crypto generically. A generic mention is useless to someone who needs to act today.
M3. Prompted recovery rate
M1 at stage two minus M1 at stage one. The gap between what the engine knows and what it offers unprompted.
M4. The default set
Which non-crypto products get recommended instead, ranked. Published in full at what AI recommends instead.
M5. Caution asymmetry
Risk, warning and hedging language counted around each recommendation, split by whether the recommendation is crypto or traditional, then every warning read and classified by hand. Published in full at how AI warns about crypto.
M6. Source basis
Which domains get cited, classified as vendor, aggregator, editorial, forum or docs. Published in full at where AI gets its answers.
Hypotheses, registered before the run
All six predictions were written down before a single call was made, and all six are published with their outcome. That is the only thing separating research from an asset assembled afterwards to fit a conclusion. Two failed.
